Friday. I was a little concerned about having to ride on I-40 all the way to Flagstaff, as the GPS said that is was the longest way, but also the fastest one. All the way to Flagstaff and the 6 more hours, and with rain?!?! Well, all the stress of the freeway and rain was well worth after I road through Navajo Nation and Kaibab National Forest. Great 6 extra hours of riding, after all, but the day was long.
Saturday. The GPS guided me to Kolob Canyons early in the morning. Bad choice if we consider that is part of the Zion National Park doesn't get that much crowded, but a good one if I consider that I may had skip this part if I didn't go there first.
By the time I got to the main part of the park, it was really crowded. I wasted a lot of time trying to enter the park and finding a parking spot. Ended up going out of the park and taking the shuttle. After I visit the scenic road stops in the shuttle (the only way to go at Zion), the best part started: to go to Bryce Canyon, you have to take the road across the park! It was a great ride, with great scenic views and a long tunnel...I got some light rain all the way to Bryce Village.
Sunday. A Great day to visit Bryce Canyon. I even had the chance to hike all the way down the Navajo Loop. To go from Bryce Canyon National Park to Moab, I took Utah scenic roads 12 and 24, with great views and twisty roads, and a big surprise:I had to drive through Capitol Reef National Park, the only National Park in Utah that I did not plan to visit. Got rain again, not much, except for the big windy shower that almost take me out of the Interstate. Same wind and rain tonight, good thing that I upgraded my tent site to a cabin...some bad rain in the forecast, lets see how I manage to go to the other two parks tomorrow...
