24 years went by. April 29, 2016. I left a great steady job with a good salary and great friends as coworkers. This time, following the dream of working at my own pace, as an entrepreneur.
In my previous 2 entries, I mentioned all the good changes observed in my life since the year started. Well, in my work things were less than perfect. Don’t take me wrong, I loved working for Wholly Guacamole, that’s why I stayed there for 12 years, but there was something else, I was cranky and very easily upset.
A few years ago, the company was purchased by a bigger group, and the sense of entrepreneurship was gone. I guess that is when I felt the call to start doing something on my own. I though about it for very long, but I never jumped into it before, there was too much to loose.
Well, without much detail, I decided to take that step, and take the risks that come with it. I have some savings, the equipment needed and all the support of my smart, hardworking and beautiful wife.
So, this past Friday was my last day as an employee for Wholly Guacamole. If things go as expected it could had been my last day as an employee for good. I don’t mind having to work for another company if this doesn’t work, but at least I have to try it.
I worked for myself in the past. Once in Mexico and a few years ago in my own side business in my free time, and in both cases I had great satisfaction in doing it.
This time, I will be trying two different endeavors to start: One of them is my laser engraving business, which I have been trying to grow for the last year, only figuring out that I need more time to make it happen. The other one is what I always have done, offering computer tech support services.
Wish me luck. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
