Sorry, I forgot to publish this video last weekend. Here it is, for your enjoyment.
Watch the home movie here, next weekend.
This year I spend Christmas with my family in Texas. Edgar, Ana and I had a great time, this time by ourselves.
For New Year, I traveled to Monterrey to spend time with my mom, dad and brothers. My mom spent some time in the hospital with more heart problems, and I really wanted to see her and spend time with the rest of the family. She's slowly recovering. Eduardo and Dora were so kind to pick me up in Eagle Pass and take me to Monterrey (not without a nice stop at "Las Isabeles" to eat some good morning tacos!). Thank you, hermano and cuñada! I wish you all a very happy and successful new year. ![]() We just came back from our vacation in Monterrey. We had a wonderful time with my parents, and had the chance to see a lot of my friends and family members. I usually see a few of them, but this time, I managed to see more than usual, as I let them help me with the planning, instead of try to squeeze everybody in my schedule all by myself. I also learned about some bad news: as we were getting ready to travel, we learned about the pass away of my aunt, one of my dad’s sisters. Also, on my reunions with friends, I found out that a lot of members or our college generation are gone. Also, some of my friends and their families had suffered serious illness. One of my closest friends from FIME fought and survived cancer. I did not know about all these, and it all made me think about how time changes our world, turning it so different to the place that was so familiar… I ready thank all of you who took the time to see us this past week. I hope to see you all again in future trips, or whenever you stop by in North Texas. That also goes to all friends and family that we did not have the chance to see this time. ![]()
This is being Eagle PROUD means for Eagle Ridge Elementary students, Edgar is one of them. The school recognizes students by giving them "Eagle Bucks" when they show PROUD. They can exchange them for prizes like "take-shoes-off pass", or "lunch with the principal". Edgar chose to exchange his for "Hide and seek with the teachers", which happens just after school. For this prize, Edgar collected 50 Eagle Bucks in just 6 weeks! Way to go, Edgar! I'm glad you had fun. We are proud, I mean, Eagle PROUD of you. ![]() Nothing better than watching a movie by yourself at the end of a work day, right? But what can a technology heroe do when traffic force him to go directly from the customer site to the movie theater without a stop at home to leave his tools? I really wanted to see this movie, but I did not want to leave my trusty backpack full of gadgets and tools in the car, to risk getting it stolen. So there I go, to do movie weather looking like I will spend the night there, carrying my big bag with me. Imagine my surprise when the guy seating a few seats from me comes back from the lobby followed by two ushers, and they approached me and escorted me out to check my backpack. Yes, that is exactly what happened, the theater employees were very polite, I felt that they were kind of embarrassed. My guess is that the guy seating close by saw my backpack and got scared of it, feeling that it could contain a bomb or something, so he went out and demanded the employees to investigate. After this episode, I couldn't blame the guy to be so nervous about it, and of course I can't blame the pour employees for it either. I just started meditating how terrorism appears to be winning, whatever their battle really is. Now, they are not only forcing the weak minded to fear certain religious groups, or a race. Now the simple fact of carrying a backpack into a public place makes you suspect of terrorism. Crazy, right? ![]() One of the best companies I worked for was Advantage Battery Co. Part of my responsibilities there where to implement a billing system for the branches, and one of my favorite locations was Atlanta. There was something about that branch that appealed to me. It was located in a non populated area, basically surrounded by trees, it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Checking google maps, I learned that the building was deserted during 2009 (the time when the google picture was taken), and I felt sorry for it. Well, today I had the chance to stop by and found out that the building is still empty, looking for a new owner. It is a shame that I'm not an architect, designer, urban developer or venture capitalist, because I have the crazy idea about turning this empty building into a bar-grill with a stage for live music. I think the location would be great for that. What do you all think? ![]() I'm currently on my motorcycle trip to Tennessee and Atlanta.
